Message	clear coat the acid would penetrate and give you that blotchy oxidation. I bought my rims second hand as well( as with most stuff on my Z), and I'm glad I'm not having the same problem. BTW have you found/know what the paint code is for the sivler clearcoat on the spokes? I have a few chips and think I can live with some touchup vs. having them re-clearcoated($$$).
